Rogers Lake

Dakota County, MinnesotaLimited DataEutrophic

Rogers Lake earns a D — measurements through 2022 show persistent nutrient pressure that limits clarity through the summer.

At a TSI of 57, Rogers Lake reads as eutrophic — nutrient-rich enough that summer algal growth and reduced clarity are expected, not unusual. At only 8 ft deep, Rogers Lake is shallow — wind keeps the water column mixed and sediment resuspension drives phosphorus levels harder to manage. At 102 acres, Rogers Lake fits the Minnesota median for monitored lakes, with 3.0 miles of shoreline. Within Dakota County's 36 graded lakes, Rogers Lake ranks 23 — below the local median, though not at the bottom.

Rogers Lake has no invasive species recorded in Minnesota state databases as of 2022, though prevention practices still apply at all access points. Bass fishing is part of the appeal: the species list runs to 7, anchored by largemouth and/or smallmouth bass. A documented public access point at Rogers Lake makes the lake usable for shore fishing, paddle craft, and trailered boats. Monitoring depth is thin here: the LakeGrade rubric is applied to a small number of sample years, and the grade will be revised as more data accumulates.
