Why cable parks are not graded

LakeQuality rates boat-wake water on measured depth and surface area, following the St. Anthony Falls Laboratory wake research and WSIA setback guidance. A cable park has neither a boat nor a wake, so scoring it on those factors would be meaningless — every park here is rated Not applicable rather than being given a number it did not earn. Our A–F water quality grade is also withheld: most cable parks are private ponds, quarries, or built lagoons that no public monitoring program samples. Where a graded lake sits within 25 miles, we link it.

Frequently Asked Questions

A cable wake park pulls the rider across the water with an overhead cable system instead of a boat. Because there is no boat, there is no wake, no fuel cost, and no driver — which is why cable parks are usually the cheapest and easiest way to learn to wakeboard.

We list 45 cable wake parks across 24 states. Texas and Florida have the most. Note that operators open and close between seasons, so confirm hours with the park before you drive.

No. Our A–F grade measures water quality on lakes with published monitoring data, and most cable parks are private ponds, quarries, or purpose-built lagoons that are not in the public monitoring record. Where a graded lake sits nearby, we link it so you can see what the water in that area looks like.

Most run seasonally. We show a documented riding-season window for 20 of the 45 parks, derived from Open-Meteo daily-high climatology for that location. Southern parks in Florida and Texas run far longer than northern ones.
