Little Hubert Lake
Crow Wing County, MinnesotaMesotrophic
Little Hubert Lake earns an A — water clarity, phosphorus, and chlorophyll-a all rate among the best monitored waters in Crow Wing County. The three sub-grades — clarity, phosphorus, and chlorophyll-a — track close together, so no single parameter is dragging the average.
The lake sits in the mesotrophic zone — the band where most well-managed Minnesota lakes fall. The lake bottoms out at 41 ft — a moderate depth that supports a warm-water fishery without the year-round cold refuge a deeper basin provides. At 194 acres, Little Hubert Lake fits the Minnesota median for monitored lakes, with 2.5 miles of shoreline. Little Hubert Lake ranks 22 of 120 in Crow Wing County, putting it in the upper tier of locally monitored lakes.
Little Hubert Lake has no invasive species recorded in Minnesota state databases as of 2024, though prevention practices still apply at all access points. The state fisheries records do not list documented species for Little Hubert Lake, which usually reflects a lack of formal fisheries survey work rather than an empty lake. The lake lacks a documented public access point, so visitor use is limited. The lake has a partial ice record — 10 observed ice-outs, centered near Apr 18. The grade is based on limited monitoring — fewer than three independent measurement years contribute, so future updates may shift the letter.
