Why does this lake have no reading?

Water-quality readings come from public monitoring programs, and those programs do not sample every lake. A lake with no reading is one nobody has sampled recently enough to publish, not a lake that failed anything. Its size, depth, location, and access still come from public records.

The app says nothing about my photo.

The photo read needs a connection, and it is the only part of the card that does. Offline, or when the read is unavailable, the card still carries the lake and today’s outlook and the picture you took. Nothing is lost except that one line.

What happens to a photo I share?

It is resized on your phone and its location data is removed before anything is sent, so the picture that leaves carries no coordinates, no timestamp, and no camera serial. It is not stored, not linked to you, and not used for advertising.

Is a reading a clearance to swim or to eat the fish?

No. Readings describe past samples, sometimes months old. Bacteria can spike within hours of heavy rain, and fish advisories are set per water body by a state agency. Check your state or county’s current advisories before you swim or keep a catch.

A number looks wrong.

Tell us which lake and which number, and we will check it against the source and correct it or explain what the source says. Published measurements are only useful if they can be challenged.

How do I delete my account?

Open the account screen in the app and choose to delete it. Your saved lakes and sign-in are removed. You can keep using the app and the site without an account.
