Easton Lake

Easton Lake carries a solid B grade — strong on most parameters, with measurements that hold up well across the summer season. Of the three parameters, phosphorus is the worst — at 46 µg/L of phosphorus, it keeps the lake susceptible to algal blooms in warm years.

Mesotrophic conditions dominate at Easton Lake: enough nutrients for a healthy fishery, not so much that algal blooms become a chronic problem. The lake's maximum depth is not yet documented in state morphometric records — context for its physical structure remains limited. The lake is compact at 33 acres, with partial shoreline records and little volume to buffer nutrient inputs. Easton Lake ranks 18 of 20 in Adams County — at the lower end of the locally monitored distribution.

Easton Lake has at least one documented invasive species (Curly-Leaf Pondweed), so boaters and anglers should observe clean-drain-dry steps when leaving the lake. Bass fishing is part of the appeal: the species list runs to 4, anchored by largemouth and/or smallmouth bass. Public access is available — the lake is on the Wisconsin DNR public-access list. Monitoring depth is thin here: the LakeGrade rubric is applied to a small number of sample years, and the grade will be revised as more data accumulates.
