North Dakota Wakesurfing Rules
What the rule says
North Dakota has no statewide wakesurfing-specific regulation. General towing rules require an observer or a mirror (at least 78 square inches) when towing on skis, a surfboard or similar device, and some lakes carry idle-speed or electric-motor-only restrictions. No wake-surf-specific distance/depth/acreage thresholds exist statewide.

Individual lakes routinely add stricter limits on top of the state rule — no-wake zones, time-of-day windows, horsepower caps, and wider shoreline setbacks are all set locally by counties, lake districts, and land managers. Check the local authority for the specific water before launching.
