Hawaii Wakesurfing Rules
What the rule says
Hawaii has no statewide wakesurfing-specific regulation. General rules require persons towed on wakeboards or similar devices to wear a USCG-approved life jacket, and boating is administered by the Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation, but no wake-surf-specific distance, depth, or lake-size rule exists.

Individual lakes routinely add stricter limits on top of the state rule — no-wake zones, time-of-day windows, horsepower caps, and wider shoreline setbacks are all set locally by counties, lake districts, and land managers. Check the local authority for the specific water before launching.
