Kentucky has no statewide wakesurfing distance/zone rule in force. In December 2025 the Fish & Wildlife Commission advanced regulations requiring wakesports to stay 200 feet from shore and commercial docks on eligible waters and banning them elsewhere, but in early 2026 the legislature passed a bill barring KDFWR from imposing wakeboat zones or mandatory setbacks on waters where wakeboats were allowed as of Dec 1, 2025. Existing rules close a no-ski-area loophole and require PFDs; substantive limits remain waterbody-specific. Individual lakes often add stricter local limits on top of the statewide rule — no-wake zones, operating hours, and horsepower caps are all common — so confirm with the local authority for Taylorsville Lake.
